Feel free to tell what you plan on doing this weekend and even ask for help or feedback.
Please keep in mind it’s more than OK to do nothing at all too!
I have the rest of the year off starting when I'm done today. I have no big plans for the weekend - playing Valheim with two of my old university mates and not much else.
Thinking a bit about taking up a just-for-fun langdev project again, though I still find it hard to keep up motivation for anything of the sort. I'm beginning to worry that my days of just having fun programming might be behind me. But perhaps I just need some more time - my past experiences tell me that recovery from bad depressive episodes take a lot of time. It isn't helping that I still have a strong feeling that the time for "fun programming projects" is rapidly coming to a close and I don't have time.
Next week an old university mate who now lives abroad will be staying at my place a few days before moving on to visit his family for the holidays. We'll probably just play video games, watch movies and maybe coming up with some creative project to take on. I'm looking forward to that.
I'm practicing drawing with pen on paper, and while I've almost exclusively used pencils so far I might decide to spend some time practicing with some fineliners.
Second and last weekend on Tenerife for me, heading back to the UK on Monday. I'll be moving to Santa Cruz Sat lunchtime so a semi-travel day and returning the hire car on the way, aside from that I'm totally undecided on what I'm going to do. Explore the city for sure.
Also got a misbehaving Hetzner box that needs to be put into something resembling a production state, half tempted to figure out how to get SmartOS on there as updating FreeBSD broke the box, rescued it from the shell then booting FreeBSD broke it again. Something to do with UEFI boot order I think, but I couldn't figure out why it kept resetting when I rebooted. BIOS, etc looked fine.
Heading over to DroidCon India on Saturday and recovering from it with a long nap on Sunday :)
Update from last weekend: I hit my goal of 90wpm @ 99% accuracy on my Atreus for lowercase words and digraphs, and I'm well on my way - 60@99% - for normal language (sentences with capitalization, punctuation, and parentheses.) Special characters for coding are still tough.
However, this weekend I'll be spending less time on keyboard training and more getting ready for a long drive next weekend and celebrating a friend's birthday, as well as scarfing down Trader Joes' latkes.
I normally write all my own code, but I'm going to start learning how to use coding agents.
