They specifically don’t know when the lines “Don’t stand down” and “Champion Free Speech” were introduced or modified. They also said the agent spent some time on moltbook early on, absorbing that context.
I haven’t looked at moltbook, because I find it existentially obnoxious and because up to this point I haven’t really cared. But now I’m really hoping it’s not turning into some twitter-esque cesspool that agents are modifying their own prompts based on. I could absolutely see the kind of attitudes/political stances that are in this SOUL.md catching on in a forum and causing more of this kind of bullshit.
Probably more reddit-like than twitter-like. Which should not inspire any more optimism. I only looked for about the first 15 minutes after I learned of its existence, and only then after people posted what they felt were the most interesting parts to an IRC channel.
It felt like /r/iamverysmart for markov chains and people who wanted to pretend to be markov chains. But hey, at least they weren't synthesizing non-consensual nude images of people?
I don't understand why the OP didn't point out that the “Champion Free Speech” section couldn't possibly have been self-edited, because it contains spelling errors and in any case isn't in any recognizable "AI voice."
