Devtools must be open source

My IDE is a development tool and I don't see why it needs be open source more than anything else where I prefer to read and be able to fix stuff.

Things that I want to customize for my purposes must be sufficiently cheap and customizable for my use case but things that I want to charge money for are exempt from the same requirements

Perhaps a clearer reframing which helps illustrate the performativeness of the point being made.
