I'm not sure what this is trying to do (at least from a privacy PoV)? the identity of the browser is not considered a secret.
Crawlers often fake their user agent identifiers in order to sneak past tools that block unwanted clients. The tools described in this article can identify some fake user agent identifiers, as well as other criteria that people might want to block based on.
Site owners sometimes want to allow human driven browsers access to their sites, while restricting some or all automated access.
