Whatever the cause is I'd argue that this is a good thing, compared to the alternative that lots of people go to which is "just ship it, fix stuff later". So kudos to Postgres for taking "unpopular" decisions. This is "it's done when it's done" done right.
We need to stop pretending to know what future will bring and how things will pave out. So many people are wrong about thing these things all the time with hypes turning into disappointment or more often nothing.
I completely agree with:
PostgreSQL 19 will ship, [...] smaller than beta 1 and better for it.
Just wished that this attitude was a lot more common in the industry.
Unsure whether I should tag this "vibecoding". It involves LLMs because (presumably hand-written) features are being rolled back due to bugs found by LLM review. But it's hardly vibecoding if the code itself isn't LLM-written.
It might not be about LLM written code, but the submission itself is surely LLM-written. Even as someone interested in databases, I found it unreadable.
LLM reading code and extruding prose definitely counts as "Using AI/LLM, coding tools".
