Borrow-checking without type-checking

Very interesting. I might respond later with technical notes or questions, but for now something non-technical: the images for the hand-drawn diagrams are sized so large on the page that they're very hard for me to visually parse on a 27-inch monitor. I had to zoom all the way out (30%) to easily see the structure of the diagrams.
