perldelta - what is new for perl v5.44.0

It's a few years since I've been involved in Perl's development, but I'm pleased to see that perl5-porters keep improving the core language to make it more succinct, as with the function signature changes in this release.

The epigraph that Leon chose for this release announcement seems particularly timely. Along with listing the names of contributors in release announcements, the epigraphs are a nice touch that make Perl feel more personal.

The two eipgraphs I chose when I released development versions of Perl represented "the ugly red mill" across the road from where I lived and worked at the time, and a daft idea of mine that a writer friend stole and included in her novel, so I stole it back and included it in Perl.
