I find it a bit funny that this is tagged with the tags linux and nix, because technically this is neither Linux nor Nix.

The Linux one is funny, yeah.

But regarding Nix, the "nix" tag says "including Guix" in its description, so that's currently where such things go.

  It’s very annoying but I get it. During the pandemic there was so much nixslop that they just threw Guix in there out of annoyance.

you are right! , I searched for Hurd before submitting this but found stories using unix, osdev and linux tag. I was confused what to use, and about the nix tag, I have asked this before but I believe guix has progressed enough that it can have its own tag now :P

Guix does use the nix daemon but yeah, guix should have its own tag.

Yes, you can retire your X60 laptop from 2006 and upgrade to a GNU certified Respects Your Freedom X200 laptop from 2008. The X200 has two cores, and SMT support is coming soon. There's no wifi support for this model (yet) but the X200 has an ethernet port. And there's no USB support (yet), but the X200 has an optical drive, so you can install from a CD.
