Configuring Firefox

I think the majority of these suggestions are covered by Librewolf already.

User-level firefox profiles are frustratingly resistant to normal dotfiles automation, but I hadn't thought of trying to automate it using system-wide profiles which seem to have predictable paths. It turns out that Debian's Firefox has a system-wide equivalent of profile user.js at /etc/firefox-esr/firefox-esr.js which lets you set any about:config settings.

But Librewolf seems to have a better fix that you can use without having to mess with /etc: https://librewolf.net/docs/settings/

this has been my goto for quite a while now.

librewolf has better defaults, and has made some chunks not that relevant, plus with it's overrides.cfg makes it much easier as well.

Windows: stop using Windows. Apparently you have to find firefox.exe and make a distribution directory there and put the file there? Toy OS. Garbage.

This is not very helpful advice to those that might have to use Windows for whatever reasons.
