Rust for Everyone

Amazing talk! Will Crichton is so excited about the research and projects - very encouraging. I feel like a lot of those questions would be quite interesting for Nix as well, there are a lot of attempts of making people understand - but too little perhaps validation of whether they actually do understand.

Three main tools developed by and around the Cognitive Engineering Lab (only for vscode as of now) presented:

• Aquascope - “a tool that generates interactive visualizations of Rust programs. These visualizations show how Rust’s borrow checker “thinks” about a program, and how a Rust program actually executes”
• argus - “a trait debugger for rust”
• Flowistry - “is a tool that analyzes the information flow of Rust programs. Understands whether it’s possible for one piece of code to affect another”

Really glad to see what passionate people can build and research with some funding.
