I got ahold of the picotron thinking it was an interesting way to make a limited version of a game I was thinking about. Ultimately I decided that it was too limiting, so I am now enjoying some C++ and SDL that I haven’t played with in years.
The thing that proved to be too much of a PITA was the palette limitation. 64 colours were just too hard to fit everything into, when I looked at the various sprites I had made, the upper 32 were filled easily. I would have preferred something like 256 colours at the very least.
I might look again at it, it is truly a fascinating project.
