After playing around with it for a little, it seems like it gets caught up on slang or names such as Jev. Would've been impressive if it also worked across multiple languages, but I've tried writing in German and it didn't seem to work at all.
Is there anything where you would say this approach provides benefits over traditional spellchecking algorithms, or is this just meant as an experiment?
Once Jev or something like Jev starts working better for non-english languages, this could become more universal.
It's definitely merely an experiment than anything serious, though I'm already having fun using it for my local writing. AFAIK most spellcheckers are not this extreme and are more 'immediate' checks (fixing just the last word or two).
