Souping up my blog

You could also look at webmentions.
Personally, I prefer just having a visible "write at $email_address". My blog is quite small and only in Spanish, but I still get some emails from time to time with feedback, which warm my heart.
I feel retweet counts, upvotes, etc. just needlessly complicate things and... can create bad dynamics.
(I'm even against unmoderated comments. Everything that appears on my space should be approved by me. I feel many human problems in places such as the Fediverse are related to not having such control; people can reply to your thread and you have to policy that actively. Technical measures don't solve human problems, but some technical measures can create human problems.)
Nice! Why the hashing with the year rather than allowing one upvote per IP address per post?
Maybe because IPs get reassigned?
It seems a bit awkward to allow one vote per IP per year, reassignment doesn't happen at that time scale, does that really help? I'd be genuinely curious to know if it was an arbitrary choice or it was somehow data-driven
I've gone from a true 24h disconnect/reassignment to something like 2-4 weeks (didn't change ISPs) and I've heard of people having accidental static IPs for months... so I don't think a year is a bad choice.
