A recent submission How I Moved My Digital Stack to Europe has reminded me of this directory. There is also a beta version of a newer website.
I really think this misses point on how we should choose technology completely. A software is good, when it's design and use is good, not when it's european. A privacy respecting open source software out of the US will be good, because it's privacy respecting and open source as a european that sells my data is bad because my data get's sold.
I don't see the benefit from being exploited from and european company instead of an US one. If we just discuss the origin of a product we loose to discuss the product itself and the qualities of the product which makes it good. We need to focus more on the essence of a thing instead of it's appearance.

Things against that being likely are regulations in both regions. The US has the cloud act, which is a strike against any US company for anyone not in the US.
The EU has strong data privacy laws that, importantly, are also being enforced.
All things considered, chances of my data being respected are higher east of the Atlantic.
I will still do my due diligence and for things where it matters less consider a US company. But overal there are good reasons, to me anyway, to primarily focus on European services first.
No, I don't think I will. Isn't this also self promotion and such? Its practically a marketing post.
