Installing FreeBSD 15 on my desktop

A great read that, unfortunately mirrors my experience of FreeBSD on the desktop. FreeBSD has so many things that make it interesting: ZFS in the base system, huge up-to-date software collection, jails, etc. I hope FreeBSD makes progress towards a set of sensible desktop defaults that less familiar users (like myself) can choose.

I had a much smoother experience with OpenBSD. So long as you can provide internet for the installer, you get a functional system with all (supported) devices and firmware configured, and a basic ctwm desktop.
