Introducing ipxlat: a stateless IPv4/IPv6 translation device

The lack of ipv4/ipv6 translation infrastructure has been a sore spot of Linux, with many other OSes having first class support (FreeBSD in ipfw and recently pf, OpenBSD pf, macOS and other Apple OSes have had support for 464XLAT built in for years, though not sure how it's implemented, Windows also has infrastructure but it's not yet usable outside mobile networks afaik,...)

On Linux the options were Jool—an out of tree set of kernel modules, Tayga—a userspace solution using TUN, and quite recently NetworkManager with their bespoke eBPF CLAT.

This news should improve the situation indeed
