There's a French guy who seems to think my email address is his for similar reasons, but he writes it firstnamelastname (without the dot) so it's fairly easy to see when I can ignore it. Also I'm not French, do if I don't understand the email I can probably ignore it. Although I did once contact his place of work after they tried to email him to let him know where he should start his new job, I thought that seemed more important than the usual myriad of dating app spam he normally gets.

I semi-regularly get emails for another Martin Janiczek accidentally sent to me (I think we're the only two in Czech Republic), to the point that I now know their address and what they're planning to do with their swimming pool renovation. I might actually pay them a visit and figure out what their email is, so I can point the wrongly-addressed emails to the right email. It must be a missing dot or something.

My wife has had that happen so many times over the years. For the first few times she actually managed to track some of these people down to tell them to please stop. Not one stopped until she took my less friendly suggestions. :)

I had "firstname@" on a mid size British residential ISP once and I have a common first name. The spam was insurmountable and the amount of genuinely misdirected email was incredible too.

I've gotten invoices and medical records for someone with the same name as me, which is just incredible.

+1 - I have a (fairly generic) gmail I made for a short film (many many years ago) and I get mobile phone bills, flight tickets, all kinds of stuff. I try to reply where I can, or unsubscribe but there's no way of me telling where the emails are supposed to go.

Just like many other, this happens to me too. In my case, my "twin" is in Italy. Once I got an email from the phone company about his line, and his phone number was detailed there. I messaged him explaining the situation but he ghosted me.

I have a short early gmail address and I have so much misdirected email - a person in Germany ordering an expensive holiday, someone's vet appointment in Virginia, a party from the US seeking their Swedish roots.

Sometimes I make an effort letting the concerned parties know, but if it's some loyalty program for a crafting store in South Africa I can't be bothered.

Nor am I touching the subscription to "hot MILFS near you" with a 10 ft pole...
