They say:
My goal was simple. I wanted to block vendor telemetry, strip out ads, and force the TV to act like a plain display again.
Then they spend the whole article talking about installing and running apps on the TV. Do they say, anywhere, whether blocking all of this telemetry lets the TV act like a "plain display"? (This is a genuine question... I didn't go fishing around for other parts to the article to see.)
i.e. can you connect something to it with a cable and have it display whatever's being sent over that cable, without interference due to the tracking servers being unreachable?
What they found is all interesting, but my personal goal would be to completely disable all smart functionality and have it be just a dumb monitor.
