On 'scaling up' and being the right size

Bravo.

There is a state of homeostasis that an organism/organization can achieve - if only for a moment. The "right size" is the sustainable size until something in the environment (or even internal) forces adaptation.

This made me think of so many things, including Lobsters itself and its recent controversies:

There's no limit on how many invitations a user can send (though we might at some point, to manage growth).

Coincidentally, I just read it while thinking about "scaling" my own community experiment.

This is a problem I can't wait to figure out how to solve myself when I start my own businesses:

How large should my video game studio be in order to sustain the level of quality/time spent I desire?

How many people can I sustain running an effectively "tech-health insurance" scheme that hope to increase technical literacy and confidence in my community?

How far can I go in establishing e-sports and casual gaming in a safe and uplifting among the schools and young-people organisations in my local area? etc
