Chuffed with the idea of aliasing this to ff; pairs well with jujutsu's jj since both are on homing keys!

But why do all these forges use a separate DB for issues and other metadata, when git is just sitting right there. It makes sense why GitHub did it, they wanted to create vendor lock-in on top of what would otherwise be a decentralized, distributed version control system. But then everybody uncritically copied GitHub without understanding this. I think OP's solution should not have to exist.

Niche question alert: Can I point it at self hosted Gitlab instances that require a custom key stored in an environment variable in a custom header? :-D

If so I'm all in!

Oh my god this is a fantastic idea and I'm giddy for the next time I get some quiet time on the computer at home to sit with this and see about adopting it in a big way.

Oh hell yeah. I use github for work and a mix of github, codeberg, and gitlab for personal/opensource work. I'm gonna try this out today!
