Unifying Wikipedia mobile and desktop domains

In a world of things getting worse, it's always nice to see a change that's just straight up better.
I just wish the mobile interface wasn't so limited compared to the desktop one. Interwiki links is a big PITA for me. Want to see a version in a different language while away from a real computer? Click "Desktop" and do all the zooming and scrolling.
Well, at least the "Desktop" link is still working as expected and you aren't limited to the mobile UI.
version in a different language while away from a real computer
But that's straight at the top on mobile with the language sign ?
You mean the language sign I only discovered 2 years ago?
I was complaining about this just as the person you replied to, until at some point I noticed this. I want to say it used to be at the bottom with a list, just like on the desktop version. Not sure when they introduced that (meh) language button.
I installed the app, which I agree shouldn't be necessary, but it also keeps a history of pages I read which is nice to revisit things. (I don't have that in browser because I use private browsing so that Safari isolates each tab's data. Anyways just wiki history is nicer to browse)
And now that I've passed the installation, I like that I can search directly in the app instead of my browser.
There's also apps that let you use a local copy so it works offine (optionally with images)!
Fantastic work.
Welcome to 2015, Wikipedia!
Now if they would stop tying the interface settings of their new UI to the account. I don’t want to have the toc as sidebar on iPad, but on desktop hiding it would is wasted space.
thanks, i hate it when i click an m.wikipedia link on desktop
