Would be great if servo gets added to resources like MDN or caniuse to make it easier to target.
This is really promising! Happy to see that e.g. the Norwegian broadcasting corporation's news pages…just work.
After seeing that, I tried to open nytimes.com and after scrolling a bit, was served the following message :)
You have been blocked from The New York Times because we suspect that you're a robot.
It's good to see Servo getting more and more traction. After Verso stopped development I was a bit worried, but it looks the ecosystem is quite healthy.
Interesting! What makes this bound to OS X specifically? Any chance of Linux support in the future?
so servo already does handle rendering, what i've handled sampling servo output in gpui's metal renderer without any copies or gpu/cpu roundtrips. its a bit more work to figure out this bridge for gnu/linux, but i'm sure its doable!
I'm not a regular Nix user, but I thought this would be a great excuse to try it out again (it's been quite a few years). What's up with needing --extra-experimental-features flakes and --extra-experimental-features nix-command on a Mac? I thought, at least for Flakes, these were pretty normal features?
they’re forever-experimental because Reasons (constantly shifting API surface, poor quality of implementation, nobody really understanding what the rules are, the whole detsys thing). it’s not just on mac, it’s just one of nix woes.
For various reasons, flakes and the nix command are still behind feature flags, even though 80% of users use them. It's a complicated situation that most people simply ignore by enaling those features in their nix.conf file.
I would say a sufficient reason is that there is >50% chance of significantly breaking changes within 5 years in both flakes and command-line non-flakes nix command use. Stable parts of Nix are more backwards compatible than that.
