Can Ease of Creation Lead to Decrease in Quality & Value?

I dunno if I'm alone in this, but I think that the ease of creation is not a very big factor in the homogenization of most popular music. Mostly, I think algorithms play a big role, but also that a large number of popular songs are written by a small number of songwriters. Take Max Martin, for example, who is only one more No. 1 Billboard hit away from Paul McCartney's first place. Obviously, I don't know, but if I had to guess he's probably responsible for a significant chunk of popular music you would recognize. His style of songwriting and production isn't what it is because making music now is so easy. Most of the music people listen to isn't made like I make mine in a tiny closet on a laptop.
AI in music is more similar to AI in software. Without it, though, I feel that personal computing hasn't lowered the quality of code we use every day. Similarly, I think that the ease to plug in an audio interface and lay down a sick riff is not in any way responsible for the mass produced popular music of the modern day.
P.S. Check out this The Pudding article, it's awesome!
