First I started nodding that, "yeah... you should basically start doing {something} better", then I started thinking about

how many times I saw people trying to do it better and fail
what it costs to do better instead of doing {something else} instead
how much I can do for getting {something} better instead of advertising {something else}

... I put those numbers in my calculator and it displayed "you should go for {something else}".

waterfall vs. agile (not the SAFe one, mind you)
c++ vs. rust
react vs. angular
tailwind vs. css
graphql vs. REST

And the list will go on and on, you could also add Big Data, Deep Learning, Blockchains in there as well. Most turned into more broken promises.

The latest shabacle I had to deal with were the LLM mandates, teams rushing to deliver pointless AI features, 7k+ line PRs with meaningless code being dumped into reviewers at an industrial scale, all so some "AI Adoption" metric could go up.
