The "modern" Amiga people have get to get off PowerPC. There's nothing Amiga about it, and it chains them to end of life router SoCs.
I’m wondering how hard would it be to reuse Sforza modules to move off that SoC.
POWER9? Much more difficult to design a board around (that socket requires soldering in a less oxygen rich atmosphere IIRC), and they don't take advantage of 64-bit either.
Weirdly, I’m in a position where I can check on the socket thing. But yeah, while they don’t use 64 bit now, it’s one of the last “modern” power instruction set tape outs.
I guess the other option would be chiselwatt/microwatt based fpga setups?
The more realistic option is porting to x86/ARM/RV, IMHO. AROS basically is this, but for whatever reason, doesn't light up the eyes of the the Amiga fans.
