the tag would cover anything related to scraping and anti-scraping.
implementing anti-scraping techniques is becoming increasingly important and it’s reflected in the number of articles that make it to lobsters recently. at the same time, discussion about the administration of Anubis and go-away is only important to those who manage websites, and that’s a minority.
I think a better concept would be something like ‘hosting’, covering the tech and challenges of hosting content online.
One could argue that could fall under the existing “devops” or “scaling” tags (I am more surprised that there is no sysadmin/admin tag though!)
Yeah, “sysadmin” would work too. Or “bofh”.
To me, going overly broad defeats the purpose of having a tag, which is to filter out or search for a specific type of story. I’m not looking for a general taxonomy. But I also find tags like practices useless for that reason.
I think we should be careful adding tags just to deal with a temporary increase in submissions.
