This is not the first time this type of thing has been DIY'd for context. Several historical web forums catalogued builds as simple as a needle a battery and a spoon (iirc) with other jellybeans.

This is, far and away, the most polished version of this that I've ever seen though. Kudos, even if you probably could never sell such a thing.

Absolutely dying over the "feedback". Reminds me of the time I powered a computer with two separate power supplies. I got a "most likely to catch on fire" award because of it.

I can confirm that while you don’t get all the features you can get pretty far with just a single 9V battery and a stainless steel pie scoop (or a can like in the article)
