The UX of this thing looks like a c.2000 MP3 player, ignoring one of the key things that made the iPod a breakthrough: the scroll wheel. I owned one of those MP3 players — the Nomad Jukebox — and it was a pain in the ass to use a d-pad to navigate through the music I could store on its puny 5GB(?) hard drive. I bought an OG iPod on day one, as much for the scroll wheel as for the speedy FireWire connection.
The iPod was a d-pad for a couple of gens too iirc
No, it wasn’t, “IIRC.” Pretty sure SJ would have ripped the liver out of any designer who tried to propose something like that.
