Why ALTER TABLE is such a problem for SQLite

I stumbled upon this short explanation while trying to figure out why I can't add two columns in a single ALTER TABLE statement, and I found it quite interesting and fascinating. I can only imagine how complex it is to edit all possible "creative" schema designs that developers write.
