The xkcd font ... is considerably more uniform than xkcd Script
Is it? I don't want to yuck anyone's yum, but the xkcd font looks very wobbly to me, to the point where my brain doesn't like looking at it. Just looking at those two samples, I find the script one way more legible and uniform. I can't be the only one who thinks that?
Each individual letter is more regularly shaped, but as a collection they're more varied. For example, the capital D is much heavier than the letters around it, and in the word "sit" in the first line, "si" is thin and tiny while "t" is thick and heavy.
The accompanying description says it was used in an actual XKCD comic, but if you look at that comic you'll see all the text in it is uppercase (and looks pretty good there), while most of the text in the preview image is lower-case.
Xkcd Mono when?
My dream is a non-mono font with enough spacing and hinting to be a reasonable replacement for monospace. This is not one of those. But it's cute!
There's a PR with one, but imo it doesn't work well because it's just handwriting with extra spacing.
