AI handles the tedious parts and helps you learn the parts you don't know yet. Switching computers used to be a multi-day ordeal — reinstalling software, copying files, reconfiguring everything. Now I install a handful of apps and log in to services. Everything lives in the cloud. My code is on GitHub, my documents are in Notion, my designs are in Figma. The computer is almost just a terminal into the real environment that exists online.

Great write-up! I was young during the early web but old enough to have my place on it too.

One thing I remember that I want to add is the explosion of PHP-based CMS systems in the 2000s. Just off the top of my head I remember Php-nuke, Php-fusion, Joomla, and Drupal. I'm sure there are more. It felt like everybody was writing a CMS in 2005, myself included.
