Domain/OS inspired some of Plan9 and offers a lovely view into a different lost future (more Multics than unix:
The main sales gimmick behind the things was that by using a distributed OS, linking up the machines with each other made for a more powerful overall system.
It was e.g. common to boot machines discless over LAN (ATR). There’s a treasure trove of information here: https://bitsavers.org/pdf/apollo/
I only know Domain/OS from these documents but it doesn’t really seem very similar to Plan 9. It reminds me more of a Windows network with Active Directory and SMB. It’s hard to tell without actually using it though.
