This announcement looks a little premature. There is a "Build it with me!" statement which is neither here nor there. The important part of a robot vacuum is the vacuuming part, which I suspect is hard to get right (power and size). Lots of little pieces to go together properly
I think a more useful project would be one that jailbreaks existing robot vacuums. A quick search pulls up https://valetudo.cloud/pages/general/supported-robots/
And there's also Claude in the contributors list on Github. This whole thing is a "concept" for now, not a project.
There isn't even any code or anything concrete in the repository. Just obviously LLM-generated markdown (the kind Claudecode writes to itself) and pictures of a CAD model
I use Valetudo. It's cool but doesn't work on the nicer robots which work best. It also doesn't reimplement the lower level firmware - relies on the firmware for things like zones and splits.
Maybe the way to get this working is grabbing a real vacuum and fitting it inside. Maybe the new Dyson stick vac and fitting it?
