Posting about online presentations

Purely my opinion, but my thinking is that this isn't really something I'd want to see on the site. Aren't there already a bunch of options for event listings?

While I don't think there's any particular rule against sharing events, and I'm pretty sure there have been some in the past, I also think postings here should primarily be to share and discuss the content of that posting with the community. There's not really much meaningful conversation to be had about a post that essentially is nothing but a calendar event.

By "posting events" do you mean invitations/links where one can buy tickets or videos and transcripts of select presentations/talks?

The former, I think there wouldn't be too much interest for, it doesn't really fit the site's general content. The latter, sure, talks are interesting and are generally well received.

Personally I would not welcome such posts, but then again I'm also not a fan of online live presentations.

I would also recommend reading the Guidelines:

Self-promotion: It's great to have authors participate in the community, but not to exploit it as a write-only tool for product announcements or driving traffic to their work. As a rule of thumb, self-promo should be less than a quarter of one's stories and comments.

i would be interested to discover such places. please don't post though regular invitations: an overview of the landscape would suffice. also please look at the landscape from the other direction: the author of something who wants to present and discuss what she or he built.

i also agree with a previous commenter: for most subjects, i strongly prefer written text to "talking heads". i even block the video tag: because i lack the time to engage with them. diagonal reading beats fast forwarding, so to speak.

yet, i might find live, interactive video talks (not recordigs) interesting.

TLDR: i would enjoy reading a summary of the places, but wouldnt be interested in regular invitations. thanks.
