I'm curious how this project providing rb differs from rv. At first glance the goals seem similar, and personally I have no problem with a bit of "competition" in this space. (Lord knows we need real forward momentum in Ruby!) I'm just curious if anyone can explain similarities vs. differences.
From what I can tell the biggest difference between these two is that rb doesn't plan to install Rubies on its own, instead delegating it to other existing tools like rbenv, ruby-install, and perhaps even rv. Other than that the goals appear to be very similar indeed.
At the current point in time rv only deals with Ruby installations, whereas rb provides a new concept for Ruby projects. I can imagine that these two projects might collaborate (or even are merged) at some point in the future, but it's way too early to tell. I'm really curious what new approaches these projects will bring, it's nice to finally see some innovation happening again.
