What are you doing this weekend?

Feel free to tell what you plan on doing this weekend and even ask for help or feedback.

Please keep in mind it’s more than OK to do nothing at all too!

Got into uni for Mathematics so most of the time will be spent packing unfortunately.

I hope I'll have enough time to mess around with my own projects.

Migrating all my devices to a new VPN provider after finding out funding Mullvad funds Swedish fascists - I'm trying to pick between Cryptostorm (which from the outside, seems kinda psychotic), Njalla and ProtonVPN. Any advice from Lobsters users?

We have Handmade coding meetups! 100% indie and offline. It's been a delight to swell our ranks with some Lobster folk =)

  1. Seattle: check out the cool presentations for tomorrow. (Also next month we're having Andrew Kelley as a guest, which I'll explain in person.)

  2. Tokyo: This chill Japan event is tomorrow as well! Handmade Tokyo is our smallest meetup for now, but the host is a full-time indie dev who's keen to grow them carefully.

The site lists all the meetups for subscribing, or we can wishlist the ones without a Handmade presence yet.

Just coming back from the IETF meeting in Vienna and my brain is fried. I will spend the weekend doing absolutely nothing and it will be glorious!

I am taking a break from the voxel game I have written in APL and am currently making my way through the book "The Ray Tracer Challenge" with the goal of writing the code of it in APL. Also looking into Odin.

Taking care of my 8 month old who has her first ear infection. Anyone have tips on how to get her to take her antibiotics? It’s been a struggle.

When she’s asleep and if I have energy hoping to finish a baby tracking app. Her mother and I have been very disappointed with the apps we’ve tried.

Finishing off a pared-down reimplementation of the Fibertree python library in Rust, primarily with the intent of having experiments "run faster" so I can analyze some data. And then running said experiments.

This is quite possible the shaving of a yak, and I sure hope it isn't

Finishing up a blog post about query system design (for a Rust compiler). Incremental compilation is quite demanding and multi-threaded cycle detection feels like a (mostly conquered!) final boss.

I started building an audio plugin a couple weeks ago. After some experimentation and research I have something that runs efficiently with a sound that I'm really happy with. The GUI-less version of the plugin works, but I've found that there isn't a great free and open source solution for cross-platform GUI for these plugins, and I've started adapting an open source 2D game engine I wrote to render into a plugin window. Just got the basics working and this weekend I'll be fine tuning it. Pretty deep in yak shaving but may be coming up for air soon!

Going to see a sand castle competition. Then trying to find time to read because, with work, projects, and family, reading time is becoming precious.

Too depressed to do much of anything.

My thinking's been fuzzy lately, so I'm going to try to sharpen it by writing a couple blog posts.

I deprecated my managed k8s infrastructure from Digital Ocean and I'm spending some time this weekend to standup some new infrastructure, but not managed. Nothing crazy, might even just start off with a single node to begin, but I'm excited to learn more about the layers in which I have not had to deal with prior. I'm also excited to just be able to use some of that extra cash to invest in more power.

If anyone has any recommendations on providers, please let me know!
