Proposal: Add Hotness -.25 to Vibe Coding

Without filters, vibecoding is 1/3 of the front page. This is bad.
Potentially -.35 if need be.
May I also suggest, for the umpteenth time, FIXING THE TAG. The current definition is ungrammatical and ambiguous, and (depending on your personal interpretation) overbroad:
Using AI/LLM, coding tools. Don't also tag with
ai.
(I don't have a lot of hope for this since we've already had two big threads where all this is pointed out and absolutely nothing happens, but I'll keep trying. For a while anyway.)
You mention it briefly, but you can filter out the tag?
I would still like to see vibecoding posts but less of the left tail of the score distribution.
There’s a lot of stuff that’s basically the same thing being posted. I think we should establish how long to wait before the hotness mod is needed. Two days?
This sort of flood seems to periodically happen for certain topics and then subside.
lobste.rs already has a voting system and algorithm which determines what gets onto the front page and for how long. Why would some particular group's preference override the upvotes of some other people? Where would that end?
There are already tag-specific adjustments, search for "hotness" on https://lobste.rs/filters
For specific use cases, not for general ongoing adjustment of trends, and set by benevolent dictator admin, not voteable by membership.
Also I'd like anything that's just a non-technical take on vibecoding to also be tagged "practices" (or maybe marked off-topic) and then can we filter on combos?
I'm with you that there seem to be a long list of vibecoding tagged posts, but I get the impression that ironically many of them, and specially those that are upvoted, are critical of vibecoding.
A flood of critical takes can be just as tiresome as a flood of positive ones. I want to stay on top of developments but I also want to hear about other stuff.
I want to mention that this would be the first technical label to be subject to hotness modifications. The existing ones are culture/rant/meta/satire (lower hotness) and "announce"(higher).
That being said, there is precedent to discussions for some tech being considered off-topic. A lot of crypto-currency or "web3" posts were removed or marked as off-topic, except those that were truly about merkle-trees :) In addition, the "merkle-trees" label was marked as a label that can't be used by new users to combat spam. A status that the vibecoding label already shares.
The tricky question is though: Where is the line? Lots of posts in the vibecoding label have been manually upvoted a lot. That means there's some universal agreement it's interesting?
Maybe someone can do some stats on label-average-popularity and label-recency?
