But what is taste? I would define it as some kind of sense of aesthetics and judgment coming from experience and intuition, being able to say whether something is good or bad without necessarily being able to explain why.

I think this is a pretty good explanation of "taste", as nebulous of a thing as it is. But I'll also say that the "experience" part is key: for the majority of people, "taste" is something developed by experience doing things. Maybe every now and then you get a Rick Rubin or Steve Jobs who are not really directly practitioners but have an intuitive sense of what they want and how to guide people (but in general, they are also managing a set of people they have themselves selected for having excellent and exceptional taste, away from the averages). But in general, when we say something has "good taste", it often comes from someone running up against trying to do things and them not working, and indeed through hard application, trying something and something else unexpected happening that then becomes part of their flow.

Perhaps this can happen with vibecoding, but I am skeptical. From what I can tell, heavy LLM usage seems to result in taste obliteration, as everyone starts sounding the same, and even becoming somewhat nose-blind to the smell of LLM-same'iness.
