If anything has been close to the the year of the Linux desktop, this one has been. …Which means next up needs to be the year of the Linux phone. Google is taking Android slowly down the same anti-user path as Microsoft did to Windows.
Hoping for Linux phones to succeed and be able to replace an Android one, but I don't know if that will be the case any time soon. Google has managed to "enslave" everyone to their products. The Linux phone market would succeed if there were anyone outside privacy-conscious people and hackers that would actually buy them, and breaking free from Google is a big task for regular folk.
