I guess outside the scope of the post it also illustrates in passing a larger point: an opensource disclosure doesn’t need maintenance to be useful; official example how to set up hardware was forked to make it more usable, but probably saved someone a lot of time figuring out the schematics-specific knowledge needed to get things working.
(Also works for other things where «it works as a demonstration» is non-trivial but not sufficient for direct use, like algorithm implementations)
Are there other options to Tidbyt? I found the design cool, but never bought one.
