"The barriers to entry on this repair are low". Whilst true in hardware, I think the Author does not value their skill and knowledge nearly enough. The work they do is very impressive.
Here's another good one: flex PCB replacement https://hackaday.io/project/165825-olympus-12mm-f20-lens-mount-repair
Nice writeup. This has both the mechanical repair angles and electronics, makes a nice read.
Great work and write up! Why do consumer electronics incorporate fuses on the board? When a consumer part, like this lens, stops working it is usually scrapped. What is the economic incentive for a manufacturer to add fuses?
I aspire to have the skill to be able to do something like this one day!
