polished off Pnin, fantastic little novel. Now reading some Carson McCullers, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter's first chapter immediately sniped me and now I'm all in. Oddly underrated, I never see anyone mention McCullers with the greats, but she had immense talent (Lonely Hunter was written when she was 23!!!). Need to condense my thoughts and write a book review for Pnin for my Gemini capsule this weekend and work on my Haskell Gemini server. Will probably finish Lonely Hunter and maybe go back and read some Céline, Death on Credit has been calling my name...
Weighing making my static site generator into a real project, and see if anyone besides me and my friends would ever use it.
I wrote about mourning the loss of Rails and it's made me think a lot about how I want to interact with the tech world, especially the Ruby community. Do I want to try to make the Ruby community a better place with my own projects, or just move on? I dunno yet.
This weekend is probably gonna be a lot more contemplating.

I'm going try out Hanami this weekend. Figured I should try that before going back to Merb.
Hanami is not for me, but it does still seem very cool. I really hope it takes off!
Can you share what wasn't for you? Is it having to piece together the framework you want?
I'm one of the weirdos that still likes OOP, and Hanami feels very functional instead of object oriented. I think it does very cool things, but I would really like a framework that plays to Ruby's strengths, and I think DSLs and OOP are Ruby's strengths.
ough, i feel you on the loss of rails and crisis with ruby. i'm feeling that right now as ruby & rails were in tandem my (very recent) intro to programming. your blog post really resonates
I have yet another text editor I’ve written that I need to get cleaned up and released.
I have about 50% of a new scripting language interpreter written. Need to get that moved forward.
I gotta flip the new clothes dryer door to open on the other side.
I have some paperwork to do for the guardianship of my father.
An old friend/colleague is going to be in town, so meeting him for coffee.
And my older kid has some sort of school event, I need to nail down the specifics.
And I’d like to have a nice dinner just me and my wife, we haven’t had a true date night in a bit.
Phew.
Gotta put together the new (to us) bed frame we just picked up. Go to the gym, do some cycling. Seems I gave myself a stress fracture on my right foot so I am done with running for a little bit while that heals.
Sent the contract in for a puppy so we'll be picking her up in a couple weeks and need to get the house ready for that. Will need to clean, re-organize, order requisite supplies (taking recommendations if you have dogs, specifically Mini Australian Shepherds), and do some dog-proofing.
Other than that I'm just gonna try to spend no money.
Just received my first NAS, and some HDs. So I was pretty excited.
Only to discover the error message:
The following disks have the same WWN (World Wide Name).
This apparently is a really bad thing, and QNAP refuses to do anything with those. So I will probably spend some time understanding and trying to fix this. I've already updated to QuTS 6, as someone pointed out, no dice. Next steps are: hard refresh, using a different machine fro investigation.
But also, maybe touch some grass.
I really want to redesign my personal website. Feeling very inspired by a lot of personal sites I've seen that put a lot of personality into them and mine right now is pretty much just a resume...

Also trying to figure out if this house’s former owners left the wiring for a doorbell intact without ripping my drywall apart. If not, I may have to run Ethernet for the smart doorbell in trying to put in to replace the cheapo Walmart one. I’m coming to the conclusion that I’m probably going to have to rip my drywall apart.
My boat is in storage and the camper van is loaded so I guess it's time to mosey on. I'll probably go check out the Grand Coulee area of Washington State to scope out good boating and camping sites for the Spring.
