The 1.4 release seems to suffer from scope creep rather than rewrite problems tbh. Claude already bundles the new non-release. The number of PRs will of course grow if you point a bot with unlimited tokens at the repo - but they don't all have to land.
Comparing that to the CCC project (mentioned in the PS) is weird given that one was never meant for actual use and literally tells you not to use it in the first readme note.
If the reason is the scope creep than it confirms my suspicion that most software projects are not late, because of the code writing part, but because of the product management part. Sadly I don‘t see the same AI productivity gains there.

This is basically how Bun releases go, 1.3 was also coming out SOON(tm) for quite some time because of extra additions. (IIRC Jarred joked about that recently on Twitter, but idr what was said exactly.)
