The link in "Even for regular blogs, the volume of feed readers can become a problem" goes to a post from rachelbythebay that complains about three-digit numbers of requests over a day from a few feed readers. There's simply no modern universe in which that should actually be a problem. Feed readers should probably do better, but these are simply not numbers that matter.
