Feel free to tell what you plan on doing this weekend and even ask for help or feedback.
Please keep in mind it’s more than OK to do nothing at all too!
I'm looking forward to spending some more time on my reimplementation of Star Trek: A Final Unity. It's an old DOS point-and-click adventure game that doesn't run fantastically well under dosbox or 86box, so I've been reimplementing it in C# with MonoGame.
Nearly at the point where I can actually get to play some bits of it instead of staring at the conversation logic for hours ;)
Just some background reading for CG and my future rendezvous with Vulkan. Scratchapixel is amazing.
We are running a hackathon next week, for a few reasons, but mostly to teach more people how to develop applications on our system. We have asked each team to submit their proposed project, and over the weekend I will be reading through the project proposals and writing comments. I want to give each team feedback beforehand — mostly comments on whether their scope is reasonable (might be too ambitious or not ambitious enough), and also a few suggestions of how our system might support that feature.
For the actual hackathon, we're assigning a "facilitator" from the developers who work on our system to support each hackaton team. Having someone who is already familiar with the system sitting by your side as you work seems to me like the fastest way to pick up a new skill.
Basically, I'm trying to optimize the process of using a 2-day hackathon as a teaching exercise.
Reading "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius.
A friend had spare tickets to an album launch in Edinburgh tonight, and invited me to come along. Tomorrow night I'm playing a gig with my band at a local pub! Probably spending Sunday resting and decompressing. Maybe also some gardening work, the garden certainly needs it.
Will try getting started with reading Odyssey, before the movie comes out.
