What next for the compute crunch?

i paid for a month of Claude Pro, and the embarrassingly small 5 hour usage window makes doing a lot involved work almost pointless without also buying “extra usage” at API rates. feels like the entry level paid plans are approaching the reliability and availability levels of the old free plans, and then what happens to “free” inference?

this does not feel or seem like a sustainable situation, and the numbers in this piece contribute to that perception for me… not to mention the funny financials associated with some of the big players in the infrastructure involved.
