Appreciate this write-up. I’m working on a screen saver for macOS right now, and it feels like I’ve spent more time stepping on rakes than on the actual animation.
Just make sure to kill the existing legacyScreenSaver process, if necessary.
legacyScreenSaver seems to keep some kind of in-memory cache that never expires. I've also not found this process on Tahoe / Apple Silicon. I'm wondering what OS version and arch the author is using; I've been developing on Intel Sequoia and routinely need to kill this process to test.
