Back to FreeBSD: Part 1

I really .liked this post...and I've been wanting to play more with FreeBSD...but just didn't get the bandwidth that was hoping for during the holidays...so, for now, just read this, appreciate it, and wait for the next part.
But, on a different but sort of related aspect of FreeBSD...One thing i've often wondered is: with all the attention and effort to get linux to run on Apple hardware (like Asahi Linux)...which is something to be respected....Why has there not been an effort (not unlike Asahi)...but, to get one of the BSDs (like FreeBSD) to run an Apple hardware? I mean, wasn't like MacOS based on IronBSD or some such BSD variant? So, in my mind it feels like there could be an opportunity to get FreeBSD (or some BSd variant) to be set to work on Apple hardware...But, above their core OS, there would be more free/libre/open source stuff, like KDE Plasma, Gnome, etc....and then i imagine this would be equally as appealing to developers...cuz it would be a strong FreeBSD core, but with vastly more flexible (and free/libre/open source) top layers/UI that a dev could mold to their liking...Right, or it is just me thinking this?
(Acknowledgement: I have had no Apple hardware since like the 2010s, and have zero idea if this effort is something that exists, have zero desire to buy any such Apple hardware even if this were an existing effort, etc.)
