Claude voice mode is still a joke in 2026

I find a lot of these kind of things very nice, especially for assistive programming for people who can't type. However, at some point they're going to start charging us what this stuff actually costs and then the free ride will be over. Be ready for more disruptions as that starts to happen and this feature becomes more popular. Simple question, why doesn't a person use a local speech thing? And then just have Claude read the text? They've been doing voice transcription successfully now for at least 10 years. And this doesn't require an llm!
