So there's PRQL and DuckDB Friendly SQL and Google Pipe SQL. Anything else?
dbplyr of course, and its Python counterpart / descendant Ibis.
The path they took to get to 'a better SQL' is a little bit different: instead of starting from SQL, their direct ancestor is dplyr's grammar of data manipulation, which was honed on manipulating tabular data in data frames rather than databases.
If you want to learn more about dplyr, first read the introduction, which introduces the five or so main verbs, and then look at the illustrated cheat sheet to see what else is possible.
